The U.S.S. Enterprise 33" miniature in a publicity shot circulated during the show's run. Why clouds? Beyond me. I'm going to do a painted version as if it's a nebula, but I wanted to upload the original because of how beautiful the photo is. The strings are a bit obvious - in fact this is probably the only time the model was ever suspended on strings, contrary to popular belief - and you can see the 'nub' at the bottom of the secondary hull where it would normally be mounted for shooting.
Technically, I suppose this is the original, original Enterprise, since this one was built before the 11 foot miniature (if you can really call it that) was finished. There was supposedly a cheapo proof-of-concept model made before this one, but there are no photos of it that I've ever seen and I expect it was thrown away rather quickly since it was only a proof-of-concept model. This 33" model is in fact missing as of this day - apparently Gene Roddenberry let someone borrow it after the show ended and they never returned it.
